1st Grade: Ball Dribbling Stations; Ball Dribbling Skill Testing; Winter Holiday Games; all classes will have earned their free day by December 21 for good behavior

2nd Grade: Ball Dribbling games; Ball dribbling Skill testing; Winter Holiday Games; all classes will have earned their free day by December 21 for good behavior

3rd Grade: Basketball Unit

4th Grade: Bowling Unit and starting Basketball Unit

5th and 6th Grade: Bowling Unit and finishing Floor Hockey Unit
We will have another PE locker cleanout by December 21.

4th-6th grade: Walking or helping the younger students

Starting on December 7 and then also December 14 and 21, the employees of the Belmond Medical Center will be here to walk with the students during our walking program time.  We will also have a drawing from the BMC for some prizes.

5th and 6th grade Bowling Fieldtrips

6th grade Bowling Fieldtrip
     As part of our PE curriculum, the 6th grade students will be going bowling on December 7th and 15th at the Sparetime Lanes bowling alley from 8:30-10:30 a.m.  The cost to each student is $4.00.  Students may bring their money to the Jacobson Elementary office at any time during school hours before December 7th.

Note: Thanks to the Belmond Community Service Women, the cost will only be $4.00.  They are helping out by putting in $2.00 to help defray the cost to each student.

Terms to know for this unit
1. Frame-
How many frames in a game?
2. Approach-

9. Fill in the number of each pin


10. List 5 “rules” of bowling etiquette.




Bowling Scoring
1.Add up the points for each frame if there isn’t a spare or strike.  Keep a “running total” for each frame.
2.Strike or Spare=10 points plus what you knock down on the next ball
3.Strike or Spare=10 points plus what you knock down on the next two balls
4.Total number of points that can be achieved in a game?
Extra credit terms:  Double, turkey, sleeper, split

K-6 Elementary PE Standards
Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
                   a.Performance of  locomotor skills-skipping, sliding, jumping, galloping, etc.
b.Performance of nonlocomoter skills- bending, twisting, lifting, and stretching
c.Performance of  basic object control skills: Throwing, kicking, striking, and catching.  Performance of  basic sport-specific skills- soccer dribble, football punt, softball batting, throwing a baseball, catching a basketball, etc.
