K-6 Elementary PE Standards
Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
a.Performance of locomotor skills-skipping, sliding, jumping, galloping, etc.
b.Performance of nonlocomoter skills- bending, twisting, lifting, and stretching
c.Performance of basic object control skills: Throwing, kicking, striking, and catching. Performance of basic sport-specific skills- soccer dribble, football punt, softball batting, throwing a baseball, catching a basketball, etc.
Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, and strategies as they apply to learning and performance of physical activities.
a. Understands basic movement patterns
b. Understands the importance of practice and conditioning in learning skills and improving performance
Standard 3: Participates regularly in physical activity.
Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
a.Meets health-related fitness standards for a standardized physical fitness test.
Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
a. Follows rules in a game activity.
b. Demonstrates good sportsmanship in a competitive game activity
c. Demonstrates responsible behavior in physical activity settings
Standard 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.
a. Demonstrates positive team participation
b. Participates to the best ability
c. Participates in recreational activities
